What appalling cynicism.
Yes. We call it "diplomacy."
Matthew Fox is the author of Monday Morning Diplomat. He is a former Foreign Service Officer who resigned his commission and sold his soul to become a lawyer. Over the course of his professional career, he has worked on topics as varied as WMD proliferation, human rights and democratization, energy markets and finance. He has represented the United States at international working groups and in federal court. He has represented the bureaucratic needs of his Departments in the Intelligence Community, at International Working Groups, with the United States Supreme Court and in multi-million dollar settlement negotiations. He has served under four Presidents and seven cabinet secretaries. The most daunting thing he ever did was try to teach High School social studies. He received his BA at the University of Michigan in History and Political Science, a JD from the Duke University School of Law and a Masters in International Public Policy focusing on Strategic Studies from John's Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
